This short workshop explains what e-learning now has to offer, the benefits that UK organisations are reporting, and the skills that trainers need in order to engage productively with the new learning technologies.
Benefits
The primary purpose of the workshop is to raise awareness and to encourage a positive attitude to learning technologies across the learning and development population. Specifically, by the end of the workshop participants should be able to:
- describe the full range of opportunities afforded by e-learning
- cite examples of successful applications of e-learning by UK organisations
- describe how e-learning can be integrated with traditional approaches to learning and development
- describe the skills they will need in the future if they are to engage productively with new learning technologies
Format
The workshop can be run successfully on a stand-alone basis or as a session within a broader conference or meeting. On a stand-alone basis it will normally last 2-3 hours, but can be adapted to run in a shorter timeframe if required. There are no upper limits on the number of participants, so the session is particularly suitable for those occasions when an organisation wishes to raise awareness within their learning and development population as a whole.
The workshop has been designed to be engaging and highly interactive. It will challenge existing preconceptions without preaching. It will acknowledge fears and concerns, while pointing the way forward positively. Absolutely no technical knowledge will be required for participants to benefit fully from the event.
Facilitators
The workshop will be facilitated by an acknowledged thought leader and commentator on learning and development, and a regular speaker at international conferences.
